WATERBURY, VERMONT (December 2, 2008) –After you’ve hit Vermont’s usual sightseeing hotspots, what will you do with visiting out-of-towners and vacation-weary kids? Take them to the Green Mountain Coffee Visitor Center and Café located in Waterbury’s historic train station. The building, which has been restored to its early-20th century glory, houses a cutting-edge coffee exhibit with multi-sensory displays, a café, and a community room exhibiting Waterbury’s rich history. It also continues to serve as a working train station for Amtrak.
Visitors to the multi-media coffee exhibit will learn how coffee is grown, harvested, processed and roasted. They can challenge their olfactory acumen with a sensory wheel of aromas, or take a coffee personality test.
After the self-guided tour, visitors may want to enjoy a delicious Green Mountain Coffee cappuccino, espresso, or latte in the café. Shoppers can find special holiday gifts among the crafts from coffee-producing countries such as colorful Guatemalan hand beaded necklaces, Indonesian hand bags with elegant needlework, or Fair Trade Certified™ note cards. Visitors can also find a wide selection of coffee-related gifts including 10-ounce bags of limited edition holiday seasonal coffees, Vermont Breakfast Crates and Keurig Single-Cup Brewers."
The Green Mountain Coffee Visitor Center and Café is located off Park Row, behind Rusty Parker Park in downtown Waterbury. It is open every day, 7 am-6 pm.
