Packaging Film 

In FY ‘07, we replaced a layer of petroleum-based material with a layer of PLA (poly-lactic acid) in the packaging film used for our Newman’s Own® Organics line of coffees. PLA is a polymer derived entirely from natural cornstarches and is 100% renewable. Through this change, we reduced the non-renewable portion of each bag by 19%, by weight.
